2011 has started out just as busy as ever! It feels as though Brad and I have been away more than we have been at home. Our adventures this year started with a trip to Phoenix Arizona to enjoy some time in the sun and attend WordCamp Phoenix.
Our trip to Phoenix could not have come at a better time. We left with feet of snow on the ground and in the midst of another snow storm hitting the Philadelphia area. We almost didn’t make it out of the Philadelphia airport. By the time we left almost all remaining flights had already been cancelled. However, we made it into the air and off to Phoenix without a minute to spare!
Phoenix was absolutely beautiful in January! The weather was in the 60’s and 70’s the entire time we were there with the sun shining! We enjoyed leaving our coats in the trunk and driving with the rolled all the way down throughout the city.
While in Phoenix we spent a lot of time with some of the great people in the WordPress community, we hung out at the awesome collaborative workspace, GangPlank, and we ate far too many tacos at the amazing SanTan Brewery. We also had the opportunity to reconnect with some people who have been very special in our lives. For me it was my cousin Cheryl and her husband Gene who I haven’t seen since I was a little girl and Brad got to meet up with an old friend from the Marines.
Last, we enjoyed the AMAZING WordCamp event that was put together by Amanda Blum and a great group of people. They went completely out of their way to make sure that everyone got the most out of their time in Phoenix with a number of workshops, meetups, bar events and one heck of a conference. They even put together an amazing after-party in the courtyard of the new Chandler city hall complex. I cannot say enough great things about the entire week worth of events.
Brad and I really enjoyed our time in Phoenix and I don’t think it would have been half as great without all of our friends and colleagues there to enjoy it with us. We are already looking forward to next year!
