One of my favorite things about fall is pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin soup, pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin! Another great pumpkin treat that I’ve been enjoying this year is pumpkin beer. If you love pumpkin as much as I do you should head to Triumph Brewing Company‘s Philadelphia location tomorrow and try their Pumpkin Ale. This is hands down the best pumpkin beer I have ever had! The smell of the beer is deliciously pumpkin and cinnamony and the taste is just as amazing!
On the other end of the pumpkin spectrum is Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale. This beer has a great pumpkin scent, but is lacking in that sweet pumpkin flavor. Jack’s is an Anheuser Busch beer and much more subtle taste. I’m assuming the mild pumpkin flavor is to connect with a wider audience, but it was not enough for an extreme pumpkin lover like myself.
Another delicious beer that I believe has a great autumn taste is Wells Banana Bread Beer. This beer completely surprised me. I thought it sounded odd and didn’t really have high expectations, but I was in love after one sip. Wells has just enough banana taste that it isn’t overpowering.
I may be a bit bias in these beer reviews because banana and pumpkin are two of my favorite flavors. Lucky for me it is very early in the pumpkin season and I hope to find many more great harvest beers to try!
